Amazon previews AI programming assistant CodeWhisperer

While Microsoft/GitHub commercialized its AI programming assistant Copilot, Amazon started previewing its AI programming assistant CodeWhisperer . Similar to Copilot, CodeWhisperer is trained using open source codebases to provide developers with code completion suggestions based on context. Copilot has caused controversy due to code licensing issues, CodeWhisperer has similar issues, but it does it better than Microsoft/GitHub – it will give the source of the code when providing sample code suggestions, and the developer will be able to know it came from So the MIT-licensed code that can be used freely comes from the GPL-licensed code that restricts its use.
