SQLite is a C language library that implements a small, fast, self-contained, highly reliable, full-featured SQL database engine. The SQLite database will generate some temporary files during operation. In order to identify these temporary files as generated by SQLite, their file names all start with sqlite_ at the beginning, until a submission on November 1, 2006 changed this prefix to Changed to etilqs , that is, reverse the word sqlite .
The reason behind it is related to Macfee.
As a well-known anti-virus software, Macfee also uses SQLite as a built-in database. When Macfee runs on the user’s computer, the temporary files of the SQLite database will be generated in the C:/Temp directory. Sometimes there are many temporary files , which is very large and makes users very distressed.
But the users at that time did not know which program generated these files, but because these files all had the same prefix sqlite_ , some users searched for sqlite in Google, and then found sqlite website and contact information.
“Angry” users started calling SQLite engineers to complain, and sometimes SQLite engineers would always be woken up by the phone in the middle of the night because of the time difference.
In order to solve this problem and let engineers sleep well, in a commit at 21:16 on October 31, 2006, the prefix was first changed to a string of meaningless characters, no longer containing the name of sqlite:
It was changed to etilqs in a subsequent commit, so that people who were smart enough to see that these files were generated by SQLite would also understand that calling SQLite engineers would not solve their problems.
