Anonymous users send Ethereum to celebrities via Tornado Cash

The U.S. on Monday announced sanctions on coin mixer Tornado Cash, barring U.S. individuals and entities from engaging in any transactions with it. In accordance with U.S. regulatory requirements, GitHub subsequently deleted the account of the project developer. In an apparent effort to create regulatory trouble , an anonymous user sent 0.1 ETH to a celebrity’s wallet address via Tornado Cash. Celebrities who have received ether through the mixer include cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, TV host Jimmy Fallon, sports brand Puma, a wallet created for Ukrainian donations, artist Beeple, comedian Dave Chappelle, and more.
