Apple develops touchscreen Mac computer

Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reported that Apple is developing a touchscreen Mac computer, and the new MacBook Pro with an OLED display could be its first touchscreen Mac, which is expected to launch in 2025. Apple engineers are actively involved in the project, the report said. The first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen will retain the traditional laptop design, with a trackpad and keyboard, and the display will support touch input. The computer’s operating system is still expected to be macOS, and Apple hasn’t actively tried to integrate iPadOS and macOS. Apps developed for the iPhone and iPad will run on touchscreen Macs. If the reports are true, it represents a shift in Apple’s philosophy. The late Apple CEO Jobs (Steve Jobs) opposed the addition of touch screens to Mac computers on the grounds that holding up fingers to operate the screen would cause arm fatigue.
