The Cupertino, California-based tech giant has long planned to set up brick-and-mortar retail stores in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets. Although the company started online direct sales in 2020, it has not yet opened an offline Apple Store.

IT Home learned that Apple’s Apple Store retail store was originally planned to open in 2021, but the global epidemic and economic uncertainty forced Apple to postpone the opening. Previous reports said the company was targeting a launch between January and March 2023. The 22,000-square-foot Apple Store in Mumbai will be a “landmark” retailer known for its iconic design.

Apple also plans to open a second, smaller Apple Store in New Delhi, with an area of ​​10,000-12,000 square feet. In addition to these two stores, Apple will also look for other possible store locations in shopping malls and high-end shopping areas across India, with the aim of making Apple Store retail one of its important businesses.
