Argues JSON author Douglas Crockford argues that JavaScript, the most popular programming language, has now become an obstacle to progress and should be retired , while acknowledging that there is currently no replacement for the JS language. According to a StackOverflow survey, more than 65% of developers use JavaScript, with Python in second place at 48%. Crockford believes that the problem with JS is that it’s getting bloated, the community is more interested in adding features than fixing its bugs, and JS, like other dinosaur languages, has become an obstacle to progress. Crockford said that there are two major difficulties in replacing JS: the first is that there is no JS replacement, and the second is that all browsers need to adopt it. The result can only be “good luck”.
