Astronomers have produced the first map of the Milky Way’s graveyard of dead stars. The study was published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. Large stars collapse into black holes and neutron stars at the end of their lives, and they produce powerful explosions that are asymmetrical, and some of their remnants are even thrown straight out of the Milky Way. Astronomers found that the height of the Milky Way graveyard is three times its own height, and about one-third of the celestial bodies flung out of the Milky Way, and they flew through interstellar space without slowing down.
