Blog revision
As you can see, the blog has changed the theme. In ten days, I changed three themes. The latter two themes are similar in style, maybe you can’t tell.
When my blog just switched from Typecho to WordPress, I was using an older version of write. The old version of the theme stopped updating in 2016; in 2018, the author refactored the theme and modified some of the customizable functions into paid functions. Personally, I think the style of the new version is not as good as the old version. Some developers directly provide the old version theme installation package download, write is the case. So the old version was used for major surgery, and it was modified after the Chinese version. Also, fixed a bug caused by the create_function function being removed in php8. This is covered in the article ” Switching to WordPress for Blogging Programs “.
I’ll be testing some themes at the test station, and when I tested the Clean Toolbox theme, it came across. I like the general style, but there are some problems with the details, it is a bit messy with the css of its parent theme. After a week of debugging, it went online, and continued to debug after going online. It took more than ten days of debugging before and after. During this period, Awoo Meow also took a fancy to this theme. I gave him the finished sub-theme, and every time I made changes to the theme, it would be synchronized to its virtual host.
Since I don’t understand PHP, I also debug css while testing and searching on the Internet. There are still some details in this topic that I am not satisfied with but cannot debug. For me, who has obsessive-compulsive disorder, I still need to continue debugging. So after using it for about a week or so, I changed this theme, and I will consider launching it after I modify it to be more perfect.
Next I used Fira, which has more customizable functions, and there is a bug in the customization function. After giving the official feedback, I switched to saira. The 1.0 version of the theme provides various customization functions, but 1.1-1.3 offline some customization functions and change them to paid functions. Fortunately, the WordPress.org official website will record the modification history of each theme, you can view the historical version code and changes of any theme, and you can download the corresponding files (I have to say, WordPress.org has done a really good job, really worthy of it It is a foreign platform. The domestic blog program platform does not have this good thing). According to the historical records, I spent 2 hours to restore this part of the customized function by fumbling, and raised the version number. Of course, this modification is only for my own use, and I cannot provide the modified theme package to the outside world.
Using the block editor
The block editor for WordPress was previously disabled by me. WordPress officially provides a disabling method. In addition to the official classic editor plugin, third-party plugins (such as the ” gadget ” plugin I am using) can also use the official interface to disable or enable many functions of WordPress.
At the test station, I used the block editor several times. I found that it recognizes and converts formats much better than the default editor.
Copy the file in markdown format directly into the block editor, the block editor can automatically recognize it, no useless text or code will appear, and the displayed format is exactly the same as that displayed in the markdown editor. No more copying and pasting markdown-formatted files as html, and no more needing to use markdown plugins in WordPress.
The block editor can also customize the special format of each paragraph of text, pictures, etc. in the article. It doesn’t mean that I use this feature in every article, but it doesn’t mean I don’t need it at all.
After a little learning, I decided to enable the block editor on this blog.
For historical articles, I use the Newspack Content Converter plugin developed by Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.org, to convert the html format to block format. The plug-in will save the original article in html format in the ncc_wp_posts data table, and match the two formats of each article one by one.
tossing
After I got home from vacation, I was testing Zblog PHP, Emlog pro (crack), FlatPress, etc. in my spare time. In the end, I found that only WordPress and Typecho fit my requirements best.
