Boeing’s last 747 delivery flight leaves an easter egg in the sky

Boeing delivered the 1,574th and final 747 to Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings on Feb. 1. This marks the official discontinuation of the model. According to tracking of the plane’s Atlas Air 747 flight trajectory, the pilot of the delivery flight that day left the words 747 in the air, and a crown was placed on it. The first Boeing 747 was produced in 1968, first flew in 1969 and entered service in 1970. The Boeing 747 held the record for the world’s most passenger-carrying aircraft for 37 years before the Airbus A380 entered service.
