Recently, China Telecom completed the world’s first 5G private network RedCap test in Zhenjiang Port. This test is based on the 5G port customized private network solution released by China Telecom Group, and uses 3.5GHz commercial spectrum to verify the basic functions, service rate, delay, user coexistence, mobility management, and video service collection of RedCap in the smart port scenario. The test results show that RedCap can meet the needs of business applications such as unmanned unloading of hoppers, remote stacking and reclaiming, intelligent tallying, and stack identification, which will favorably promote the application of RedCap technology in 5G smart port scenarios.

This private network test is different from the in-field test in the laboratory, but integrates the actual performance requirements and scenario requirements of the existing network, fully verifies the ability of RedCap to enable the production of core scenarios, and lays the foundation for the scale replication of 5G RedCap industry solutions in the future. Base. The test was jointly completed by China Telecom Jiangsu Branch, Zhenjiang Port Group, Tianyi IoT 5G IoT Joint Open Laboratory and Huawei RedCap technical team.

As one of the 25 first-class ports open to the outside world in China and one of the 43 main hub ports in the country, Zhenjiang Port is the largest sulfur import port and Yuanming powder export port in the country, and is the berthing terminal of the 12.5-meter deep-water channel of the Yangtze River. The main port business covers direct river-sea, rail-water combined transport, water-land transshipment, multimodal transport and other dry bulk and general cargo transit loading and unloading services. It has established cargo transportation business with 128 ports in 50 countries and regions, and cultivated iron ore A batch of brand-name goods such as stone, coal, sodium sulfate, sulfur, and chemical fertilizers. Due to factors such as complex cargo structure, various forms, scattered transportation and high quality requirements for freight, the development of the smart port process is restricted. China Telecom, Zhenjiang Port Group and Huawei have jointly built a 5G+MEC private network in Zhenjiang to enable data collection, remote control, unmanned operation, and intelligent operation in four business scenarios. RedCap can further lower the threshold for using 5G in the industry, inject new momentum into 5G-enabled smart ports, and accelerate the digital transformation of bulk cargo ports.

Zhang Xuren, general manager of the R&D Center of Zhenjiang Port Group, said: Zhenjiang Port, as a 5G + industrial Internet application demonstration enterprise, has long been based on the regional hub port, relying on the service-oriented manufacturing demonstration platform and engineering technology research center of Jiangsu Province, and continuously accelerates the pace of digital transformation and professionalization process . In the early stage, various applications of 5G-related technologies in bulk cargo ports have been carried out with China Telecom and Huawei. This time, the RedCap technology has been successfully tested and launched in the 5G private network environment in the port area, providing technical practice for further enriching the application scenarios of smart ports. , It also greatly promoted the large-scale application of key scenarios, and better met the urgent needs of our port companies to improve their core competitiveness.

5GRedCap is the best carrier for medium and high-speed IoT, opening up a new blue ocean for the IoT industry. China Telecom will join hands with industrial partners to promote the sound ecology of the 5GRedCap industry, enrich 5GRedCap business applications in many industries including ports, electric power, coal mines, steel, and chemicals, and create an ecological foundation for larger-scale and deeper deployment of 5G applications.
