This tool is not needed when you have turned on the ” Compress this drive to save disk space ” feature on Windows.
But if you’re not using full disk compression, that’s where compact comes in. Normally, you can use the command line to compress each folder, but it is more convenient to use the graphical interface.

In theory, such compression does not affect the operating efficiency, the system will decompress it at runtime, but it is also a good way if you are short on disk space.

About Algorithms
- XPress4K: Fastest, but weakest
- XPress8K: A reasonable balance between speed and compression
- XPress16K: Slower, but stronger.
- LZX: slowest, but strongest, note that it has high performance overhead
In addition, the developer tested Adobe Photoshop CC 2017, and Xpress16K got a 52% compression rate, which is very good. And there is no noticeable performance loss under the i7-6700HQ.
