Pinwan, January 15th, according to CCTV news reports, the inauguration ceremony of the first spaceport in the European continent was held on January 13th at the Esrange Space Center in Sweden located in the Arctic Circle.

The spaceport is a new orbital launch complex at the Esrange Space Centre, which is said to “significantly reshape the European space landscape”. According to the Swedish Space Research Centre, which operates the space centre, the new spaceport will provide an independent European space gateway, complementing and enhancing Europe’s current launch capabilities in French Guiana. Europe’s current rocket and other launch activities mainly rely on the European Space Agency’s Kourou Space Center in French Guiana, South America.
The new spaceport is expected to host its first satellite launches around the end of 2023 and to conduct reusable rocket technology tests in the new year.
