The world’s largest aquaculture fishing vessel was officially delivered.

On May 20, according to China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the “Guoxin No. 1” built by Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Group, a subsidiary of the group, was officially delivered to Qingdao Guoxin Group. “Guoxin No. 1” is the world’s first 100,000-ton smart fishery large-scale aquaculture vessel.

The total investment of the aquaculture vessel is about 450 million yuan, with a total length of nearly 250 meters and a displacement of 130,000 tons. There are 15 breeding cabins, and the total aquaculture water body of the whole ship is nearly 90,000 cubic meters. It can breed large yellow croaker, grouper, Atlantic salmon, etc. fish species.

Large-scale aquaculture ships can be called “fishing and breeding aircraft carriers”, which can effectively use the deep sea suitable for long-term cruising aquaculture and avoid natural disasters such as typhoons and red tides, so they are also called “mobile marine pastures”.

According to the China Shipbuilding Corporation, the “ship-borne tank breeding” model pioneered by “Guoxin No. 1” has pushed the breeding area from the nearshore to the far-reaching sea. The delivery of the ship marks the advanced development of China’s deep-sea large-scale aquaculture ship industry from 0 to 1.

According to China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the aquaculture vessel is the largest designed fishing vessel in the world, with more water volume per cabin than two standard swimming pools, and a designed annual output of 3,700 tons of fish. In addition, the culture density of this boat is 4-6 times that of traditional cages, and the breeding cycle can be shortened by more than a quarter.

After this delivery, it is expected that the first batch of farmed large yellow croakers will be caught and marketed this autumn.

“Guoxin No. 1” started construction in December 2020 and was launched into the water in January this year. The ship’s sister ships, Guoxin 2 and Guoxin 3, are expected to be delivered in March 2024. The 300,000-ton super-large “Guoxin No. 4” is expected to start construction before the end of next year.

Qingdao Guoxin Group was established in 2008, mainly focusing on the supply of full-chain marine aquatic products such as feed production and marine aquaculture. The actual controller of the group is Qingdao State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. Last year, Guoxin Group achieved a total revenue of 12.03 billion yuan.

“China Ship News” reported on May 20 that in the next five to ten years, Guoxin Group will successively invest in the construction of 50 aquaculture workers ships, together with 13 supply ships, fuel bunkering ships, and comprehensive test ships, forming a total tonnage of more than The 12 standard demonstration fleets of 10 million tons have built the world’s largest deep-sea aquaculture fleet, with an annual output of more than 700,000 tons of marine fish.
