Abraham Mignon, or Minjon, was a still life painter. He is known for his floral works, fruit still lifes, forest or grotto still lifes, game, fish still lifes, and garland paintings. To the right of the tabletop, he drew an orange figure, apparently referring to the Orange-Nassau family, the ruling family of the Netherlands. The painting is from the collection of the Orange-Nassau family. It hung in the Oranienstein castle in Dietz, Germany in the 18th century.
