Our fate started in 2016. In the past seven years, I have been wearing this high-tech watch that integrates intelligence and health management for almost half of the time on my wrist. Smart, convenient, and well-designed, this is my summary of my experience with Apple Watch over the years. I don’t know if I’m lucky. I haven’t encountered a single quality problem or maintenance in seven years. I always replace it after two or three years.
The Apple Watch has affected me in two ways:
- I look at my phone less
- I do more exercise
View message notifications, SMS verification codes, unlock your Mac, view playing audio or cut songs. These information that you originally needed to view on your phone can now be accessed with just a lift of your wrist. This convenience will only be realized after you lose it. To some extent, it serves as a good psychological hint, that is, I can physically stay away from the phone without worrying about missing important information. When I click “clear all” on the junk push, I feel better instantly. Coupled with the exquisite dial updated every year, it is really comfortable.
Sports needless to say. Personally, I mainly run, go to the gym, plus swim and ride. Apple Watch can perform relatively accurate measurements. In recent years, the function of automatically recognizing sports has been added, which doubles my sense of happiness. In addition, the emergence of fitness+ is more like a piece of Apple’s “content-oriented” puzzle in the field of health. I can not only record exercise data, but also have courses to practice, which really helped a lot during the epidemic. As for the linkage between the big screen and the ring, it is more like a bonus, a bit of timely feedback when playing games.
Having said so much, there must be a reason for switching to Garmin, right?
- One is battery life. This is a bit of a cliché, and since the Apple Watch was born, this has been its biggest shortcoming. Since the monitoring of sleep data has begun to appear in recent years, this shortcoming has become even more fatal.
- The other thing is, I found that I wasn’t getting any healthier.
- In 22 years, my liver has been infiltrated with fat, and my heart, lungs and blood oxygen have fallen to the lowest point. The only thing that remains the same is that my three rings are still closed.
- Maybe it’s my usage problem, and a few years have allowed me to discover some “tricks”. For example, for the standing reminder, you don’t have to stand up, you just need to hang your hands down to imitate the standing state to dismiss the reminder. Like many middle-aged and fat old men, I found the unspoken rules in the game and used them to gain a competitive advantage, so sad.
- Strong battery life
- I got a second-hand Enduro 2 through the channel of the former company. It mainly has strong battery life. According to the actual measurement, it can be used for 22-26 days when worn for 24 hours + daily exercise.
- motion planning
- This is considered a bonus. I already have an app for the fitness plan, so I don’t feel too cold. But you can get a complete physical status report and exercise recommendations every morning, which makes people feel very confident.
- famous but never tried
- It can be regarded as the seven-year itch, anyway, Apple Watch has been boring recently, why not?
At present, I have been with this Jiaming for more than three months. I have experienced the pain of switching systems, and I have clearly felt the difference between the two systems. There are some deep feelings, both good and bad:
- Very “serious” in the record
- It means that the sports indicators are very dry and not easy to mix with water.
- For example, the same standing reminder, Apple Watch is easy to cheat, but when it comes to Garmin, you have to walk for a minute to clear the warning, so I really walk back and forth in the room every hour It was hard for a while but it was really good for me
- Sports Data Major
- In many respects, GPS multi-satellite, blood oxygen, which are not available in Apple Watch now, are standard equipment in Garmin. In a word, the collection of sports data is accurate
- So, is it necessary for ordinary people to collect so accurately? I want to say that the pattern is open.
- A real example, I didn’t have a good rest a few days ago, but I wanted to exercise again, so I looked at my HRV and found that the fluctuations have been relatively large recently, so I gave up. I didn’t know what these data, or even these indicators, were before using the Apple Watch.
- It’s the feeling that when I have doubts, I find that Garmin always has data for my reference. It’s really great.
- Not “smart”
- remove movement Battery life, the rest are basically disadvantages
- Unintelligent is my first feeling after switching
- Can’t wake up Siri, can’t link with iPhone, all settings must be manually operated, App structure is chaotic, dial resources are scarce
- For Apple Family Bucket users, it is very, very, very uncomfortable
- heavy weight
- Andro 2 Nylon strap, weight about 72g, Apple Watch The solo loop is around 42g
- You must have an adaptation period at the beginning, it is too heavy!
- Ultra users please ignore this as the weight is basically the same
If I were given another chance, I might still choose Garmin, because I know that at this stage I need more exercise guidance than convenience. Maybe with the upgrade of Apple Watch, Garmin will gradually fade out of the stage, but at this stage I would rather abandon the convenience of some ecological linkages to pursue something I value more.
If possible, try more. If I don’t know HRV, maybe I have died suddenly during a night run or fitness.
