Gen Z takes off with flip phones

The latest nostalgic product popular with Gen Z is the flip phone. One reason is that flip phones are much cheaper than smartphones, have simpler functions, and are easier to operate. There is no social software, so you don’t have to check who said what and who sent you messages all the time. It’s also much better at protecting privacy than smartphones, and Gen Z’s smartphones are a product that allows you to be monitored and tracked all the time. TikTok star Sammy Palazzolo, an 18-year-old freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has more than 14 million views and more than 3 million likes in her video advocating that other people buy flip phones. She believes that the flip phone eliminates all the bad things about the smartphone, leaving only the useful functions, namely, connecting with friends, taking videos and photos. Young Gen Zers believe offline social events are more authentic.
