As we approach the end of the year, many tech companies have published their summaries for 2022, showing annual trends. YouTube and Spotify have personalized recaps for users, and Google has also revealed the top videos on its YouTube service throughout 2022. Today, the tech giant gave us some insights into the top queries on Google Search.
In the latest “Year of Search”, the popular game “Wordle” was its most searched term globally in 2022, along with other cricket-related terms such as “India v England” and “India v South Africa”. The news category is mainly about the war in Ukraine, the death of Queen Elizabeth and election results. Meanwhile, the People category has everyone who made headlines this year, including Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Will Smith, Chris Rock and Vladimir Putin.
There are plenty of other categories to filter through, as well as options to see more regional trends than global ones. There’s also a US-specific Local Hub that enables users to enter a zip code or US city to see more localized trends and interests.
