This summer, we started a self-driving tour from home, drove more than 3,300 miles, visited three national parks, eight states, and several towns before returning home. This route is not a “classic” or “must go” route, but after we decided to drive by ourselves, we roughly drew a circle on the map, and gradually researched, booked (and canceled the booking) and changed it. To our surprise, when we visited the High Desert Museum (High Desert Museum) in Bend, Oregon on the last day of our trip, we unexpectedly discovered that our route was to draw a circle for the High Desert area. After suddenly realizing it, our trip this time can be called a trip to the high desert.
Our itinerary is as follows:
- Depart from the Bay Area, take I-80 through Tahoe, enter Nevada, and arrive at the small town of Elko.
- Continue along I-80 into Utah, pass the Great Salt Lake, arrive in Salt Lake City and visit.
- Follow I-15 to Brigham City, turn to US 89, enter Idaho via Logan, Bear Lake, continue to follow US 89 to Jackson Hole town.
- Tour Grand Teton National Park from south to north to Yellowstone.
- Travel to Yellowstone National Park from south to north to the small town of Gardiner in Montana.
- From Gardiner to Bozeman, then to the state capital Helena (Helena).
- From Helena to Glacier National Park.
- Leaving Glacier National Park, return to the Bay Area via Spokane, Washington State, and Bend, Oregon.
There are many surprises, many harvests, and many experiences along the way. I will strive to write articles in sections and gradually update the links in this article, so stay tuned.
