Honeywell Lean Digital Institute-Intelligent Manufacturing White Paper: Operational Excellence Empowers the Digital Transformation of Manufacturing Enterprises (Report Attached)

Changing situation : The wave of the digital economy “arrives unexpectedly” , where will Chinese manufacturing go?

According to the “Global Digital Economy White Paper” data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the scale of the digital economy will reach a new level in 2020. The added value of the digital economy in 47 countries will reach 32.6 trillion US dollars, a nominal increase of 3.0% year-on-year, accounting for GDP. The proportion is 43.7%, and industrial digitization is still the main engine for the development of the digital economy, accounting for 84.4% of the digital economy. Among them, in 2020, the scale of my country’s digital economy is nearly 5.4 trillion US dollars, ranking second in the world, with a year-on-year increase of 9.6%, and the growth rate ranks first in the world. In addition, since the “digital economy” first appeared in the government work report in 2017, it has been included in the government work report four times so far. The 2021 “14th Five-Year Plan” government work report once again emphasized “accelerating digital development and creating new advantages in the digital economy”. At the same time, multiple government departments are constantly releasing policy signals to speed up the development of the digital economy. A new engine of development.

However, compared with the digital application and advancement speed in the service industry, the digital transformation process of China’s manufacturing industry, which is the leading force in my country’s economic development, is obviously lagging behind. The data shows that in 2020, the digital economy penetration rate of my country’s service industry is 40.7%, while that of the manufacturing industry is only 21%, and the degree of digitalization needs to be further improved. At the same time, my country’s manufacturing industry is facing many development difficulties such as the transfer of low-end industries to Southeast Asia, increased competition barriers for high-end manufacturing in developed countries, serious homogeneous competition, and continued low profit margins. It is necessary to promote digital technology There are still many challenges in deepening the application in the fields of manufacturing production, research and development, design, manufacturing, management, etc., and accelerating the process of digital and intelligent transformation in key manufacturing areas.

Therefore, as the main battlefield of the digital economy in the future, how can China’s manufacturing industry use the digital economy to enable transformation, successfully cope with the challenges of the VUCA era, reverse the development dilemma, realize the transformation from “Made in China” to “Intelligent Manufacturing in China”, and become the leader of every manufacturing company. It is a question that companies need to think deeply about.
