The Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Guoji, posted on his social networking site today that the “Customs Clearance Coordination Group” is working against the clock to formulate a sound plan to achieve a gradual, orderly and comprehensive “customs clearance”. At the same time, the SAR government is in close contact with the relevant units of the central government and the Guangdong and Shenzhen governments, striving to implement the first phase of “customs clearance” as early as January 8. Apart from the currently open ports, some ports that have been closed for a long time will resume operation. Chen Guoji said that in the early stage of “customs clearance”, the SAR government will preset an appropriate number of passengers for passengers traveling between the mainland and Hong Kong, and gradually increase the number of sea, land and air transportation between the mainland and Hong Kong to meet actual needs. Combined with the operation of the first stage of “customs clearance”, the SAR government will further expand the scale, and finally achieve a comprehensive “customs clearance”.
