In the 2021 Christmas update, Tesla launched the Light Show function for the entire series. I believe many friends have already experienced it, but what many people don’t know is that in addition to the default version in the car, the light show can also Customized operations, including music, lighting, and rhythm control, can all be written and directed by yourself. You can create and run your own light shows on Tesla vehicles. Whether it’s a powerful DJ mix or a lyrical concert, it can be easily achieved. So, how to implement a customized light show?

How to run a custom light show

Customized light shows can be run on any supported vehicle via a USB flash drive, and you can also share your self-written and directed light show files with others. The light show file is stored in a USB flash drive and consists of a sequence file .fseq and a music file .mp3 or .wav. The sequence file is edited by xLights software, and the music file comes from the track you selected.

Tip: Sequence files are not restricted by specified car models.

Supported models

Model S (2021+)

Model 3

Model X (2021+)

Model Y

Note: Requires vehicle firmware v11 (2021.44.25) or higher

USB disk requirements

Must be formatted as exFAT, fat32 (Windows), MS-DOS FAT (Mac), ext3, ext4 format. (NTFS is not currently supported)

First create a folder named “LightShow” in the root directory of the USB flash drive (without quotation marks, case-sensitive). The folder must contain 2 files: “lightshow.fseq”, “lightshow.mp3” or “lightshow.wav” ” (recommended to use wav)

Note: The root directory cannot contain the TeslaCam folder, and the root directory cannot contain any map update or firmware update files.

Steps

Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port or Type-c port in the car and wait a few seconds. In the Toy Box, select Light Show, then click Start Light Show. If the files on the USB disk meet the requirements, “Custom Light Show” will be run instead of “Light Show”. When the custom light show is loading, “Loading lightshow.fseq” will appear at the bottom of the pop-up window. When the display changes to “Light show ready!” you can leave the vehicle and the customized light show begins.

Note: If the pop-up title is “Light Show” instead of “Custom Light Show”, it means the USB disk format is incorrect or the required folder/file is incorrect. If the required files exist but there is a problem with the light show sequence file, an error message will be displayed.
