Hyundai launches the world’s first holographic AR navigation system

The holographic AR navigation system can display stereoscopic images on the real road, and can be appropriately adjusted according to the driver’s specific perspective to provide accurate driving guidance.

The application field of AR technology has been gradually expanded, which has an impact on the medical field and industrial field. AR has even been moved to the navigation system recently, with Hyundai showing an AR navigation system at CES 2019.

The system is the result of joint research and development between Hyundai and Swiss high-tech start-up company WayRay AG. It is known as the world’s first holographic augmented reality (AR) navigation system, and is the first to be installed on the Hyundai Genesis G80 (Genesis G80).

The holographic AR navigation system can display stereoscopic images on real roads, and can be appropriately adjusted according to the driver’s specific viewing angle to provide accurate driving guidance. Unlike ordinary HUD heads-up displays, this system can project images 15m away from the driver’s eyes, completely “blending” with the road ahead, rather than constantly between the road and the windshield when using a HUD. Switch the focus.

The driver will not have to look down at the central navigation or mobile phone screen, but simply stare at the road ahead and drive according to the instructions projected on the road. In addition, it not only has augmented reality navigation functions (such as lane guidance, target point and current vehicle speed), but also has ADAS functions (Advanced Driver Assistance System) such as lane departure warning and forward collision warning, and can provide real-time traffic in the future. Signals, surrounding vehicle information, weather and other information.
