Last week, I applied to join the Google Bard waitlist. I did not expect to receive a trial invitation so soon. Compared with other generative AI chat tools, it takes weeks or even months to pass the trial application. It is much faster.
Introduction to Google Bard
Google Bard is an early experimental project that lets you work with generative AI. It is driven by a large language model (LLM), specifically a lightweight and optimized version of LaMDA. You can use Google Bard to increase your efficiency, accelerate your ideas, and stimulate your curiosity. You can ask Google Bard various questions and it will try to give you helpful answers and suggestions. For example, you can ask the Google Bard how to meet your goal of reading more books this year, how to explain quantum physics in simple language, or how to write an outline for a blog post.
Google Bard is currently only available to users in the UK and US, and only in English. you can here
Apply to join the Waitlist for the Google Bard experience. After the application is approved, you will receive a notification email as shown in Figure 1, and then you can go to bard.google.com

Test: Where did Jack Ma go?
Next, I asked ChatGPT, Bing Chat, and Google Bard about the same question—”Where is Jack Ma now?”, and their answers are shown in Figure 3.

Which answer do you think is better? I think it’s Bing Chat.

Some time ago, I also experienced the chat of the new Bing, see Experience the new Bing – a chat-style search engine auxiliary tool
.
Having just been using generative AI tools for many months, I have used all three tools and I have briefly compared them in the table below.
technology | Developer | Application Scenario | The main function | feature | shortcoming |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Google Bard | Help users think and create more effectively | Answer questions and provide advice | At the same time, three answers are provided for the user to choose | Average interface experience, lack of personality | |
Bing Chat | Microsoft | Provide chat interactive service, chat search | Answers to frequently asked questions, help book a flight or find a restaurant | Added citation sources to make answers more credible; real-time data on the Internet can be retrieved; association questions are provided for users to follow up | Lack of personality, data sources are not broad enough |
ChatGPT | OpenAI | Chat interaction, question answering, text summarization and other fields | Wide range of applications, including natural language processing, information retrieval, machine translation, programming, etc. | Simple and direct, more user-friendly, providing API for developers | Often nonsense, the data is only updated until 2021; the service is unstable, and the free account needs to be refreshed frequently to use |
Summarize
This post introduces Google Bard, a generative AI tool developed by Google that works with users to help them think and create more effectively. The article also compares the differences between Bing Chat, OpenAI ChatGPT and Google Bard, and their answers to the same question. I think Bing Chat has the best answer.
