I miss

Having not dreamed for a long time, I had a very clear dream in the early morning.

That was the mountain road I used to go to and from school and home when I was a teenager. Two people on the side of the road asked me if I still remembered this place. I smiled and told them, of course, I am very familiar with this place.

So they wanted me to take them through this mountain road.

It’s just that what I didn’t expect was that I got lost on this familiar mountain road. Fortunately, I remembered the direction I was going, so I took them to move on.

Passing a house, they told me they had arrived at their destination. Then they told me how to get out of here.

This mountain road is actually not long, but I walked with them from daytime to dusk.

When the smoke was curling up from the kitchen, I walked out of the mountain road and walked on the road that was so nostalgic for me.

In a house down the road lived the man whom I still miss. And to my surprise, his voice came from that house.

Puzzled, I mustered up the courage to look in through the door. The young man broke into my sight so clearly, whether it was his appearance or his voice, they all appeared in front of me so truly. I originally thought that the tide of thought in my memory would overwhelm me, but when I saw it, it seemed like I had seen him countless times before. There is no excitement, as if I should be here.

“Aren’t you home for dinner yet?” He asked me with a smile.

I remember him, I remember everything about him. His smile and dimples around his mouth are the most difficult treasures in my life.

Facing his question, I was terrified and didn’t know what to say. Everything I haven’t said in the past is stuck in my throat. I know I missed it many times, but I still missed it this time.

“Ah, I’ll be home soon.” I answered him with a smile.

“Remember to have math class tomorrow, let’s go to school together.” He turned and left after speaking.

Then I was on my way home.

It was a passage with trees on both sides. In the evening wind, the trees are shaking. Under the dim light, the shadows of the trees are mottled.

I didn’t look back, and went straight to the other side of the passage.

Then, the hustle and bustle…everything that was familiar came back.

And I, after all, missed him again.

And the last time I saw him was twenty years ago.

I have never thought of him so painfully.
