Indian Mars rover Mangalyaan stops working

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) confirmed on October 3 that its Mars orbiter, Mangalyaan, had lost contact and could not be recovered, with the mission over. Mangalyaan was launched in November 2013 and arrived in Mars orbit in September 2014. It was mainly used as a technology demonstration with a design life of 6 months, but it worked in Mars orbit for about 8 years and obtained a series of Mars research results. ISRO said Mangalyaan lost contact with Earth’s ground station during a solar eclipse in April 2022, and it speculates that the fuel has run out and the vehicle has reached the end of its useful life.
