About the method and success rate of applying for PR and SC
- Apply by yourself
- Find an intermediary to pay for assistance
To apply by yourself is to follow the PR or SC application requirements of the ICA official website to submit the necessary information step by step. The key point is to remember to prepare various originals and translations, such as the birth fair translation that most people are unfamiliar with when applying for PR for the first time. Paid assistance applications vary from person to person, so I won’t introduce them here.

PR or Citizen Change of Address
Under the National Registration Act, you must report a change of address within 28 days of moving. Participating government agencies and statutory boards will then be informed of your new address through the One-Stop Change of Address Reporting Service (OSCARS). For more details , please click here.
According to the Singapore National Registration Act (National Registration Act), those who move out of the old address must go to the Immigration and Checkpoints Bureau or the police station to change the address of the identity card within 28 days. Violators can be jailed for up to five years or fined up to 5,000. Yuan, or both.
Remember to update your address when moving in Singapore
Change of Residential Address for Identity Card
PR is renewed every 5 years
After 5 years of Singapore PR, you need to renew your multiple entry permit (re-entry permit).
Many people worry that they cannot renew their PR status. This is why Singapore permanent residence is “not permanent” . There have also been cases where renewal applications have been rejected by the Singapore Immigration Service before.
Although the Immigration Service of Singapore has not specified the review standards for this renewal application, based on experience, it is mainly related to the following points:
- whether you are working in Singapore and are being paid in Singapore;
- The amount of personal income tax you pay each year;
- The number of days you spend in Singapore each year.
Therefore, basically, if you have more than half of the new time every year, pay taxes on time, and have income from Singapore, it is not a problem to renew the PR.
When renewing your PR status, you will need these materials:
Situation 1: You are a company employee and you need to submit any of the following documents:
- Employer letter, including: date of employment, title and monthly salary;
- Central Provident Fund Board (CPF) statement showing CPF contributions for the past 12 months;
- Notice of personal income tax assessment for the past year.
Situation 2: If you are a company director, sole proprietorship shareholder, or business partner, you need to submit any of the following documents:
- Personal income tax assessment notice for the past year;
- The latest Bizfile (Certificate of Business Registration) from the Singapore Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) website.
After the materials are ready, log in to your SingPass account, select Electronic Re-Entry Permit (e-REP), and submit the online application.
Relinquish Singapore PR status
You can renounce your Singapore PR status for any reason during the validity period of your entry permit.
You only need to submit the following documents:
- passport
- Singapore PR Card
- Singapore PR Certificate
- Letter to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA): stating that you wish to cancel your Singapore Permanent Residency
If you are in Singapore, you can bring the documents directly to the immigration office for processing. If you are abroad, you can go to the Singapore embassy closest to you, or send the required documents to the embassy by courier.
After your PR status is cancelled, you can withdraw all balances from your Provident Fund (CPF) account.
PR application for citizenship
Usually, you will wait two years before applying for PR. The submitted materials are basically the same as those of PR. During the application period, such as newborns or other changes, you can supplement materials to improve the application pass rate.
