A new report today claims that Apple is preparing to upgrade and possibly expand its lineup of external displays designed for Mac and iPad users.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple is “working on multiple new external displays.” Among them, the new version of Pro Display XDR will be matched with the new Mac Pro equipped with Apple Silicon, and may not be released until after the new Mac Pro.

IT Home learned that it was previously reported that Apple is developing an external display with 7K resolution. The current Pro Display XDR is equipped with a 32-inch 6K (6016 x 3384) panel with a pixel density of 218 PPI. Apple’s new 7K display will have a higher 245 PPI on a 32-inch screen, or maintain 218 PPI and expand the screen size to 36 inches.

Gurman also reported that these new displays will be equipped with Apple Silicon chips, so “the screen is less dependent on the resources of the connected computer.” For example, the Studio Display released this year is equipped with an A13 Bionic chip and 64GB of storage space. This “powerful” lineup of monitors.
