According to wccftech, NVIDIA appears to be preparing to start mass production of two new AD104 GPUs, presumably the Geforce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti.

Based on information we’ve received from sources, it appears that NVIDIA will be producing two brand new GPU SKUs for its upcoming GeForce RTX 40 Desktop lineup series. These SKUs are based on the AD104 chip, the same chip used to power the AD104 chip. The recently launched GeForce RTX 4070 Ti though it used a fully enabled chip, these new chips will be slashed.

Starting with chips, we have the NVIDIA AD104-250 and AD104-251. The chip used for the RTX 4070 Ti is the AD104-400-A1, so you can guess how much chip reduction we might get. Interestingly, the chip names 251/250 make the two appear to be configured very similarly, though that remains to be seen.

Nvidia full AD104 GPU block diagram:

As for the boards, the AD104-250 GPU will use a PG14 SKU 343 PCB, while the AD104-251 GPU will use a PG141 SKU 345 PCB. The NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070 Ti is also based on the PG141 (SKU 331) PCB, so AIB partners don’t have to put a lot of engineering work into the new chip.

Also, both GPUs are said to have a 200W TGP, but that’s sure to change. Now entering the production plan, AD104-250 GPU SKU will be put into production first in the second half of February, followed by AD104-251 SKU, which will be mass-produced in the second half of March. There’s no mention of a hit date for each card, but it’s likely to be in the second half of 2023, around Computex 2023.

Previous leaks have hinted at similar specs to NVIDIA. The GeForce RTX 4070 rocks 5888 CUDA cores, 12 GB of GDDR6X VRAM (clocked at 21 Gbps), 36 MB of L2 cache, and a 250W TGP, while the RTX 4060 Ti suggests an AD106 GPU, but it seems like that may or may not happen. The information we have received is recent, so the old spec may be correct as well, but a lot has happened since then, such as the RTX 4080 12 GB being de-launched, renaming it the 4070 Ti. I advise our readers to treat this information as rumors for the time being, but we will try to get more information in the coming weeks once the new AD104 GPUs start production.
