The civil case of Jingyao Liu v. Liu Qiangdong reached an out-of-court settlement two days before the Oct. 3 trial. Details of the settlement were not disclosed. Jingyao Liu accused Liu Qiangdong in 2018 of molesting and raping her when he sent her home after a banquet. Liu Qiangdong denied any wrongdoing, insisting that both parties had consensual sex. The two sides said in a joint statement that the events of 2018 led to a misunderstanding, consumed a lot of public attention, and caused deep pain to both parties and their families, and today they agreed to put their differences aside and resolve the legal dispute to avoid further litigation. Pain and torture.
