36氪 was informed that Hangzhou Kaiyun Jizhi Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Kaiyun Jizhi”) has recently completed the Pre-A round of financing. According to reports, the investor in this round of financing is Yingdong Capital, with an amount of tens of millions of yuan.

Kaiyun Jizhi was established in November 2019. Currently, it mainly builds two products, namely CloudCanal, a multi-source and multi-terminal data synchronization migration system, and CloudDM, an enterprise-level online data management system.

Talking about the opportunity of starting a business, Li Qiang, co-founder and CEO of the company, introduced that in his past work, he realized that enterprises have more and more demands for real-time application of data, such as real-time data analysis and retrieval, and real-time data preparation of big data systems. In scenarios such as remote disaster recovery/multi-active, hybrid cloud data system, smooth transition of application architecture upgrade, and domestic replacement of databases, data synchronization has become an irreplaceable capability for such scenarios. Under this premise, Li Qiang said that today enterprises have a strong demand for CloudCanal multi-source and multi-terminal data synchronization and migration tools.

“Public cloud is a good IT landing platform for enterprises to carry out ToC business. Its good capacity elasticity, stability and security give users a good experience, but because of the overall IT cost performance, such as the hardware cost and stability requirements of big data platforms Differences, many users will put the data platform on their own hosting server under the cloud to form a hybrid cloud data system, but using traditional data migration tools, there is a problem of high network transmission bandwidth. In contrast, synchronization tools can be To alleviate this problem to a large extent.” Li Qiang said as an example.

On the other hand, in the process of helping enterprises to communicate with each other, the need for the safe use of various types of data is also emerging. Within an enterprise, roles such as CEO, CTO, DBA/operation and maintenance, business development, and data development have different requirements for data application. Faced with this problem, another product of Kering Jizhi, the online data management system CloudDM, is positioned to meet the needs of customer teams to safely use data. Its core capabilities include data manipulation (multiple mainstream databases), account authority system (main and sub-accounts), data desensitization (supported by common algorithms), data encryption and decryption (user-defined algorithms), data operation approval flow (butt DingTalk). and other third-party OA), automated SQL audit (customizable).

“Nowadays, data security is more and more valued by enterprises. In some industries, data security compliance is even tied to the personal career of a company leader, systematically solving problems such as taking away the entire database data with one operation and clearing the business with one command. Bad operations such as data are an urgent task.” Li Qiang explained.

In terms of the relationship between the two, Li Qiang said that CloudCanal and CloudDM work together to help enterprises to digitally transform their businesses safely. Li Qiang further introduced: “These two products have done a lot of work in terms of visualization, automation, observability, and cloud-native features, and have put a lot of effort into user experience.” Specifically, after three years of polishing, CloudCanal has Features real-time data synchronization, supplemented by functions such as data migration, structure migration, data verification, and data correction, which can solve user data interoperability needs in one-stop. At present, it has supported 21 kinds of databases including mainstream relational databases, real-time data warehouses, message middleware, search engines, and big data products. “All kinds of databases are like high-rise buildings, so we connect them like roads to make business smoother.” Li Qiang gave an analogy.

Talking about the customer’s consideration for purchasing such products, Li Qiang said that, different from the data migration tools used in big data on the market, customers purchasing CloudCanal will consider the accuracy of the data and the accuracy of the synchronization tool while satisfying its database interoperability function. Stability and real-time response to business peak scenarios. For these aspects, CloudCanal complements the product’s adaptability to various scenarios through the experience of the product itself in the process of landing commercial customers and the user data scenarios accumulated by the community edition.

In terms of commercialization progress, Kaiyun Jizhi currently has more than ten paying customers, and the industry is concentrated in pan-Internet and pan-financial enterprises. The company as a whole is in the stage of community + benchmarking business customers polishing products, and has not made large-scale efforts to commercialize. However, Li Qiang emphasized that its community version currently has more than 500 users, and the scale of the product community group it operates has reached more than 2,500.

In terms of profit model, Kaiyun Jizhi currently focuses on the subscription system. Li Qiang believes that for software products, the subscription system is the future. On the one hand, for customers, the subscription system means closer cooperation with manufacturers. Such cooperation includes, but is not limited to, continuous iteration of the business. On the other hand, for software manufacturers, after the popularization of the subscription system, the industry will also move towards specialized division of labor, standards and openness. , software manufacturers can gradually accumulate customer resources and continue to make blood, and find their own place in many vertical fields.

Another industry status quo is that many database vendors and cloud vendors will provide their own data migration and synchronization tools. In this regard, Li Qiang said that Kering Jizhi’s positioning includes neutrality, with customer demand as the main driving force, followed by other factors. In the future, he believes that data migration and synchronization tools will be a standing tool for every digital business organization, rather than a system purchased for a certain project opportunity.

In terms of team, Li Qiang, the co-founder & CEO of the company, is a former senior technical expert of Alibaba and the founder of PolarDB-X, a cloud product of Alibaba Cloud. He is a core participant of Taobao Core Go and Remote Multi-Active Projects. He has 13 years of distributed database and data fusion. Domain R&D experience, as well as years of customer service experience in cloud and enterprise services. The company’s main development team comes from Alibaba’s database, middleware, and core business departments, and has many years of experience in databases, data warehouses, and basic software. After this round of financing, the company will continue to polish its products and carry out corresponding market expansion.
