Kaohsiung Traffic Monthly Pass: A Test in Rainy Days

In the afternoon, I went to the Asus Royal Club to send my laptop for repair, but when I left, I found out that it was raining heavily. I didn’t bring an umbrella, and when I was trapped in the arcade at the intersection, I thought of two solutions: the shortest time or the lowest price. I chose the latter as a challenge.

Rainy Kaohsiung

shortest time

Calling a taxi directly is the fastest and gets the least amount of rain. In the past, the Kaohsiung monthly traffic pass would give 600 MeNGo points (equivalent to 600 yuan) to take a taxi, which is just right for this situation.

It’s a pity that the 399 yuan monthly pass does not give points. Of course, you can call a car to pay in the usual way, but I want to try a solution that does not rely on Xiao Huang.

lowest price

I was stuck at the intersection of Bade and Linsen. This is the three-way zone in the city center. The MRT station is a bit far away, and there are few buses, not even a YouBike (I usually ride to Qixian Road and walk over). So it is not possible to take the bus directly from the roadside back to the starting point.

For a rainy day, the MRT station is too far away. The most likely solution is still the bus. At least I have to walk along Qilou to Qixian or Zhongshan Road to get a ride. Of course, it will still rain, but it will not be rained all the way.

The rain started to lighten up a bit. Check the bus time, don’t have to wait too long. They also hid from the rain under the arcade, and came out to stop the bus when they saw it. What’s more unfortunate is that it was raining heavily in the ten seconds after I came out and waved. But getting on the bus is the most important thing.

You also have to think about where to get off. It’s not the nearest stop sign, but a stop sign a little farther away, and there are arcades on most sections of the road after getting off the bus.

There are still many people riding in rainy days. There is a lady who has been having difficulty scanning the bus QR code. The driver impatiently asked her to swipe the card. However, it was scanned afterwards. The Transportation Bureau should seriously deal with the process of this situation, and don’t let passengers be scolded by drivers all the time.

It was raining a lot when we finally arrived. However, it was successfully completed safely.

Later, I saw that the heavy rain report issued by the Meteorological Bureau was issued at 3:25 pm, but I was already on the road at 1:30.

In short, the weather has been unstable recently, so remember to bring an umbrella next time.
