Before I met Keychron , I only knew two brands of HHKB and Cherry, and I also experienced an unknown mechanical keyboard , but after seeing a friend’s Mac Desk, I suddenly became tempted, this is the K8:
This article is shared from the Mac play method community ” Ordered a Keychron K6 tea axis ”
So after asking about the brand, I went to the Tmall official store to soak for two days. Since there are so many types in his family, in addition to the customized version, there are 12 mass-produced versions, and each of them is subdivided into Different shape designs, including whether it has RGB marquee, whether it is hot-swappable, etc., and then let you choose whether it is a green axis, a tea axis or a red axis, so I went to station B to watch the evaluation and popular science. Look at the difference between several shafts. Professionally, I still don’t quite understand it, but after watching a few video comparisons, I found that the tea shaft is suitable for me. First of all, the percussion sound is not as loud as the blue shaft, although it is It is used at home, but you don’t want to disturb the family. It is enough to hear this crisp sound in front of the computer. The sound of the red switch is still too low.
OK, figured out the shaft, went back to Tmall and chatted with the customer service, and found that his K
The series keyboards are divided into two camps: low axis and high axis, among which:
K1, K3, and K7 belong to the short shaft, and the one with the highest sales here is the K3, which is very popular;
The rest of the even-numbered numbers are all high shafts, and the body is very thick, look at the side comparison with the magic keyboard:
Let’s take a look at the sales finger Zen sent to me by customer service, they are really lazy:
The difference between K2 4 6 8 10 12 is the number of keys (K2-84 keys K4-100 keys K6-68 keys K8-87 keys K10-104 keys K12-61 keys), there is no difference in function!
K1, K3 and K7: K1 has 87 104 two kinds of keys! K3 is 84 keys, K7 is 68 keys
C series is a pure wired, normal mechanical shaft height keyboard, divided into 87 keys/104 keys.
The various quantities of food keys refer to:
104 keys are full keyboard
100 keys are missing voice assistant wake-up, insert key, system screenshot key and right win/option key
87 keys, less the numeric keypad on the right than the traditional 104-key full keyboard
84 keys, lack of voice wakeup, insert key and right win/option key, and numeric keypad
68 keys, missing F1F12 keys, numeric keypad, and some function keys
61 keys, missing F1F12 keys, numeric keypad and some function keys, as well as independent up, down, left and right direction keys
With so many keyboard designs, I was very entangled at first, but considering the limited available area of my desk and my own needs, I still positioned the first mechanical keyboard in my life as:
Small size (I like the size of HHKB very much, but it is expensive and reluctant to buy it) The layout is compact, it is only used for coding, inputting codes, no numeric keypad, and no independent function key area, but it must retain the independent direction keys for convenience I edit documents. To sum up, I finally chose K6, which perfectly meets my requirements.
As for the other versions, I will also say something along the way:
K2: 84 keys, lack of voice wake-up, insert key and right win/option key, and numeric keypad, no independent direction keys, but there is a function key area, the overall width is not as small as K6
K4: 100 keys, lacks voice assistant wake-up, insert key, system screenshot key and right win/option key, but this is not important, for me K4 is the same problem, there are function keys, there is a numeric keypad, it is more crowded .
K8: 87 keys, this is the first version I know, and it is actually the most balanced version, because it has the same independent direction key area as the Magic Keyboard, independent Insert, Del, Page Up/Down button areas, and The independent indicator light is more suitable for users who are not familiar with the Mac keyboard system.
K10: 104 keys, Magic Keyboard one-to-one design, full keyboard, no interest.
K12: 61 keys, more compact than K6, but the layout is too exaggerated, lack of F1-F12, numeric keypad, direction keys are integrated into the alphabet keys, need to use the Fn key to control, there is no need for this.
In the end, I chose the premium version of K6, aluminum frame, with RGB lights, hot-swappable tea shaft K6, arrived in 4 days, the experience is good, the sound is the same as I imagined, it is the sense of percussion Compared with a certain green-axis keyboard that I have touched before, it is still a little bit worse. It feels vaguer, not straight and refreshing.
After unpacking, there is a Win/Mac adaptation switch button on the left side of the disk body, which can be directly tapped on the corresponding operating system after switching. Next to it is the power switch, but this switch puts the off key in the middle. It is always easy for me to dial back and forth to the Cable state on the far right, which is the wired connection state. By default, this keyboard is connected to your computer via Bluetooth.
After the power is turned on, press and hold Fn1+Q for four seconds, and the K6 will automatically appear in the Bluetooth pairing window of the Mac. It is still very fast.
The layout of the K6 is very compact, but it still retains the core Mac key design. The home, page up/down on the right side, and the direction keys are small and pitiful, and the shift key on the right side is a little small, so it is easy to accidentally touch other keys. , although the Delete key in the upper right corner is not small, but due to the absence of the function key area, I always miss it and regard | as Delete, 23333…
The most cornered area in the upper right corner is the RGB light effect switching button. Every time you press it, it will have a very dazzling effect, but I don’t know if this will consume a lot of the life of the backlight board.
The top row of keys is a number by default, but it can still trigger the function keys and F1-F12 keys of the Mac system with Fn1 and Fn2.
Every Keychron keyboard comes with a Win keycap and a key puller. I still don’t know how to play it. Maybe I will change the shaft for a while. How to play, friends who understand can communicate with each other.
Here are some basic operations:
- Press and hold Fn + the left and right arrow keys to select the RGB light color
- Keyboard automatically goes to sleep after 10 minutes to save power
- Press and hold Fn1+S+O to cancel automatic sleep mode
- Mac users can use Karabiner to modify the keys, Win users have SharpKeys
- Press and hold the Fn1 + number 5 key to increase the backlight brightness, and press and hold the Fn1 + number 6 key to decrease the backlight brightness
- Press and hold the Fn1 + light key to turn on and off the RGB light
The overall user experience is like this. In fact, for heavy players, it may have more places to dig. Don’t worry, take your time. At the same time, you are also welcome to share the use of mechanical keyboards with us in the community and Twitter. experience.
