Lamborghini Super Trofeo Challenge: 2023 season with three series covering four continents

[Sant’Agata Bolognese, December 21, 2022] Lamborghini Squadra Corse has announced the finalized schedule of regional events for the 2023 Super Trofeo Challenge. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the birth of the Lamborghini brand, the event will hold three series of competitions with a total of 18 rounds, competing across four continents. The global finals will return to Italy to start the final competition for the tenth championship.

As the longest running Lamborghini single-brand event, the Super Trofeo European Challenge ushered in some new changes in the 2023 season. In particular, the event will debut at the ACO Automobile Club (Automobile Club de l’Ouest) weekend in Imola, Italy in May, kicking off the Challenge, and the next four rounds will also be held in Imola, Italy. Supported by the prestigious SRO Motorsports Group, Round 2 kicks off in Paul Ricard, France, in early June. Weekend four weeks later (also on the occasion of the 24 Hours of Spa), at the classic Spa-Francorchamps circuit – the only track that has hosted every Super Trofeo European Challenge – and then back again The Nürburgring after a year’s absence. Valencia, which hosted the 2016 World Championship, will host the fifth round, while Vallelunga, Italy, will host the final weekend of the year.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the 11th season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North American Challenge will kick off in mid-May at one of the most scenic circuits in the United States – Laguna Seca, California. The event continued its partnership with IMSA this year and moved to Watkins Glen in upstate New York a month later for round two. After the summer break, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin will usher in the third round in early August, and then the event will return to Virginia International Speedway, which has also been a regular stop of the North American Challenge since 2013. The final race will hit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time in September. All three regional series will then meet in Vallelunga to compete for the crown of the global finals.

After three years, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Challenge has rekindled the battle, and the venue of the event has the richest geographical diversity among the three series in 2023. The preliminary race was held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, where the first season of the 2012 Super Trofeo Asia Challenge started. In June, The Bend Motorsport Park in Adelaide, Australia will be a brand new stop for the challenge. Then in July, the third round will be staged at Fuji Circuit in Japan, and the fourth stop will be at Everland Speedway, a new Korean track that debuted for the first time. Before going to Vallelunga for the finals, the Super Trofeo Asia Challenge will also move to China to complete the fifth round of the weekend in Shanghai.

The final rounds of all series of challenges will be held at the Vallelunga circuit in the outskirts of Rome, Italy, and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo global finals will also end here on November 18-19. Vallelunga has previously hosted the Global Finals twice and will become the first venue to host three.
