About Leap Micro

Leap Micro 6.1 is an ultra-reliable container and VM host from SUSE.SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro 6.1Leap Micro releases twice a year and maintains more than two versions.

Leap Micro 5.5 will be EOL with the release of Leap Micro 6.1

With the release of Leap Micro 6.1, Leap Micro 5.5 ends its life cycle (EOL); users will no longer receive maintenance updates and the community recommends that users upgrade to 6.1.

More conservative users can continue to use Leap Micro 6.0 and it will continue to receive updates until Leap Micro 6.2 is released.

marked change

Users performing a fresh installation will notice a noticeable change in the firstboot wizard. The jeos-firstboot wizard now creates additional users and optional 2FA keys, but is missing PAM configuration. The missing functionality will be added in the GM release.

We added thesoft-reboot support(soft reboot support).

  • Add vhostmd for SAP virtualization.
  • 新增 chrony-pool-empty 和 pf-bb-config。
  • PREEMPT_RT core for Arm, ZRAM support, and TOTP 2fa pam login support primarily for cockpit.
  • JIT compilation of eBPF rules.

SLE Micro 6.1 gains additional support for ppc64le, but we intend for Leap Micro to support only x86_64 and aarch64. the main reason for this is that there is no demand from the community for support for these architectures.
