Why is it that doctors are more Buddhist in raising children, but teachers are more strict?

An interesting perspective that I hadn’t thought of.

The universal stir-fry for dry pan dishes! Fully quantified seasoning ratios, with standardized operating procedures!

seems on the face of it beVery reliable universal formula, I wonder if Mr. Huang Lei is interested in learning.

I say ‘looks’ because I haven’t practiced it.

Fudan team leads this Chinese medicine study on The Lancet!

This should be considered the first double-blind controlled study of herbal medicine to be published in The Lancet. The paper is titledTraditional Chinese medicine FYTF-919 (Zhongfeng Xingnao oral prescription) for the treatment of acute intracerebral haemorrhage: a multicentre, randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind, clinical trial02261-X/abstract)The translation is “Traditional Chinese Medicine FYTF-919 (Stroke Wake-up Oral Formula) for the Treatment of Acute Cerebral Hemorrhage: A Multicenter, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind, Clinical Trial”, which you can read if you are interested.

But what’s more interesting than the paper is the story, which really qualifies as a ‘journalism glamor moment’:

This large-scale, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial failed to demonstrate that “Stroke Wake-Up Formula” could significantly improve the functional prognosis, survival and quality of life of patients with moderate-to-severe cerebral hemorrhage, but it did confirm its safety profile, with no significant difference in adverse events between the two groups.

It’s like a “failure to prove” and a “proven safety”. In that case, why not take Vitamin C? It saves your wallet. But pinch, for a drug that’s been taken for years, perhaps the phrase ‘proven safety’ makes more sense, after all, stating that it won’t kill you to take it.

A recent favorite military up owner focuses on the Pacific and European theaters of WWII.

I have no interest in military content at all, and I basically don’t watch any military content other than his videos, but I don’t miss a single installment of his videos. One of his production techniques is that whenever he reaches a critical point in a battle, he will summarize the intelligence and the current state of the battlefield, and then give a few options for the viewer to choose from. I don’t know if any other military up does this, but this up is very clear from summarizing the intelligence to giving the options, which is something I should learn from.

Nintendo commissioned lawyers to lurk the forums for a year and finally caught the purveyor of pirated games

A very interesting story.
