Let’s talk about the recent troubles Wiki Meng has encountered and her future plans.

Recently, WikiMeng has been inaccessible from time to time. This is not caused by one reason, but by multiple reasons at different points in time, so I plan to make some records and think about what I want to do in the future.

Mid-September – The website was included in the list of dangerous websites by Tencent

Around mid-September, I discovered that the website was included in Tencent’s list of dangerous websites because it contained illegal content.

What constitutes illegal content is beyond my comprehension. WikiCute Blog has been in existence for more than 7 years, and it has been peaceful for these 7 years. To talk about any recent changes, it is nothing more than the relatively intensive release of ACG-related life records this year. But I will also publish these records on other domestic platforms. Logically speaking, if there are problems with these contents, other platforms should also be warned.

Afterwards, I tried to see if I could appeal, but found that in addition to filling in private information, the appeal also required a mainland phone number and its verification code… Well, without a mainland phone number, you don’t have the right to appeal, right? So I have put this matter on hold.

After that, out of some concerns and to make it easier for me to pay domain name renewal in foreign currency, I migrated the domain name to a foreign domain name operator.

Late September – DNSPod stops resolving my domain name

About a week after my website was blacklisted by Tencent as a dangerous website, my domain name resolution was stopped. The reason is the same as the one given by Tencent, illegal content.

But think about it after DNSPod was acquired by Tencent Cloud. Maybe the blacklist system of DNSPod is the same as the blacklist of Tencent QQ/WeChat?

But it just so happened that my domain name transfer had been successful, so I switched the resolution to another company, so it didn’t cause any problems for a long time.

Afterwards, I also sent a work order to ask about the technology of DNSPod, which verified my guess. The reason why DNSPod was banned was because it was blacklisted by Tencent. To solve this problem, you need to go to Tencent to submit a complaint, which puts you in an endless loop. Without a mainland mobile phone number, you have no right to appeal.

So my current understanding is that if the website uses the Tencent family bucket. As long as the website domain name is blacklisted by Tencent’s social platform, no matter what the reason, all other Tencent-based services will follow suit? Fortunately, the server used by WikiMeng is not Tencent Cloud.

Early October – Website SSL error

In early October, both Chrome on Android and Chrome on PC pushed a version update. After updating this version, WikiMeng was unable to access again due to SSL error.

After testing later, it was found that only Chrome could not access Wikipedia.

After multiple investigations and referring to the similar experiences of other websites in recent days, we learned that Chrome has completely abandoned the SHA-1 signature of the server. This is not the signature of the certificate but the signature of the server.

Because WikiMeng has actually been using a PHP virtual host and does not have actual control over the server, it can only send a work order to inquire.

However, it happened that the server operator in Hong Kong was on a long holiday. The response to this ticket was very slow. The final reply to me was that because their PHP host has a long history and there are a large number of other websites on the same server, Rushing to upgrade cannot guarantee the stability of other websites. Anyway, I can’t deal with tough ones.

But later I discovered that in their hosting system, as long as the domain name is set to the main website, the main website will be signed in SHA-256, and the sub-sites will all be signed in SHA-1.

Considering that the server is currently mainly running on Wikimoe, and if other demo sites cannot be accessed, it is better not to enter first. As far as the current situation is concerned, only Chrome has such strict restrictions, so I decided to shelve this issue for now.

Some plans for the future

The WikiCute blog has witnessed my long journey from a graphic designer who didn’t understand code at all to a coder, so there are a lot of magical things and old and outdated technologies in it.

This SSL incident made me think about whether to reconstruct a new WikiCute blog.

At present, the decision on the technology stack and the creation of folders are ready, but… time is a big problem. Judging from the current situation, a large amount of life and entertainment takes up most of the leisure time. It is difficult to be like the period when entertainment activities were scarce. , you can have plenty of time to complete it.

The expiration date of the blog’s PHP host is September next year, so the current tentative plan is to complete the refactoring and testing before September next year, and hope it can be completed smoothly by then (laughs).
