This is a book about Jobs produced by Jony Ive ‘s LoveFrom team. Almost all of the book quotes Jobs’ own words without interpretation, which is more “authentic”. It also includes some precious photos.

Following the thread of this book, you can get an overview of Jobs’ life trajectory, and you will also find some details, such as how the famous Stanford speech was polished little by little; what is his playlist like; what does the i in iMac mean.

Jobs’ obsession and the title of the book have been well summarized. If you want to add something, you can add a Deliver. Jobs firmly believed that technology should enhance human creativity, beauty and details are important, so he wanted to build a foundation that would last beyond his lifetime, and this foundation could continuously put something (wonderful) back into the pool of human experience.

In 2010, he wrote to himself:

I grow little of the food I eat, and of the little I do grow I did not breed or perfect the seeds.

I grow very little of the food I eat, and the little that I grow, I do not cultivate or perfect.

I do not make any of my own clothing.

My clothes are not made by myself.

I speak a language I did not invent or refine.

I speak a language that I did not invent or improve.

I did not discover the mathematics I use.

I use math that I didn’t discover on my own.

I am protected by freedoms and laws I did not conceive of or legislate, and do not enforce or adjudicate.

My freedom is protected by law without my participation (legislation, enforcement).

I am moved by music I did not create myself.

I’m moved by music that I didn’t compose.

When I needed medical attention, I was helpless to help myself survive.

When I need medical attention, I can’t do it alone.

I did not invent the transistor, the microprocessor, object oriented programming, or most of the technology I work with.

I didn’t invent the transistor, the microprocessor, object-oriented programming, or most of the technologies I use.

I love and admire my species, living and dead, and am totally dependent on them for my life and well being.

I love and admire human beings, living and dead, and am entirely dependent on them for my life and well-being.

In an internal Apple meeting (2007), Jobs expressed his “feedback” in this way:

There’s lots of ways to be, as a person. And some people express their deep appreciation in different ways. But one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out there.

As a person, there are many different ways to live. People express their inner gratitude in different ways. I’m a big believer that one way to show gratitude is to create something beautiful and share it with the world.

And you never meet the people. You never shake their hands. You never hear their story or tell yours. But somehow, in the act of making something with a great deal of care and love, something’s transmitted there. to the rest of our species our deep appreciation. So we need to be true to who we are and remember what’s really important to us.

You never met them, never shook their hand, never heard their stories or told yours. But in creating something with great care and love, something is passed on. It is a way of expressing our deep gratitude to our species. So we need to be true to ourselves and remember what is really important to us.

I don’t think my taste in aesthetics is that much different than a lot of other people’s. The difference is that I just get to be really stubborn about making things as good as we all know they can be.

I don’t think my aesthetic taste is too different from many other people’s. It’s just that I’m very stubborn about making things as good as possible. That’s the only difference.

My strength probably is that I’ve always viewed technology from a liberal arts perspective, from a human culture perspective. As such, I’ve always pushed for things that pulled technology in those directions by bringing insights from other fields. other strength is that I’m a pretty good judge of people and have the ability to bring people together around common vision.

My advantage may be that I always look at technology from the perspective of art and humanities. So I always bring the insights from other fields and lead the technology in those directions. I think another strength I have is being able to identify those exceptional people and bring them together through a shared vision.

You can’t plan to meet the people who will change your life. It just happens. Maybe its random, maybe its fate. Either way, you can’t plan for it. But you want to recognize it when it happens, and have the courage and clarity of mind to grab onto it.

You can’t plan “how to meet someone who changes your destiny”, it just happens sometimes. Maybe it was random, maybe it was fate. You can’t plan for it anyway. But when it happens, you need to be aware of it and have the courage and clear mind to catch it.
