Mastodon welcomes more users

The uncertainty surrounding Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter has prompted many users to flock to Mastodon, a decentralized microblogging service. Mastodon has attracted 123,562 new users since October 27, when Musk announced the completion of the Twitter acquisition, doubling to 230,000 new users by Saturday, Mastodon founder Eugen Rochko said in an interview on Thursday. Many Twitter users have announced their Mastodon accounts, but they should not be heading to Mastodon immediately, but in a wait-and-see phase. Mastodon has no central server, a federated architecture, and no advertising. Its functions are basically the same as Twitter. Compared with Twitter’s more than 230 million daily active users, Mastodon currently has only 655,000 active users.
