Pinwan, January 12th, Germany’s Handelsblatt quoted company insiders as saying that as Mercedes’ lineup is increasingly dominated by electric models, the EQ brand is becoming redundant. They plan to remove the redundant EQ logo from 2024 on new electric vehicles, “which will end the confusion of various model names.”

Currently, Mercedes-Benz has seven pure electric series models on sale: EQE, EQE SUV, EQS, EQS SUV, EQC, EQA and EQB. The company also said it will launch a rugged, all-electric G-Class 4×4 and a long-range compact sedan based on the EQXX concept in the next two years.

Mercedes expects to phase out petrol cars in most markets from 2030, and the latest C-Class is likely to remain on sale until around 2028, with a new E-Class coming this year, including its sister model, the GLC. and GLE.
