IT House reported on September 1 that Microsoft announced the launch of a new data center area in Qatar. The company said the new data center will provide 36,000 new jobs over the next five years and generate $18 billion in economic growth for the country.
Microsoft manager Lana Khalaf said:
Like other countries in the Middle East, Qatar’s economy is heavily dependent on natural gas and oil. With the principle of “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”, Qatar has decided to diversify its economy by 2030.
Microsoft said the new data center will help address the country’s need for high-performance computing and stable use of Microsoft services. Starting today, these data centers are available with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
IT House learned that The State of Qatar is located on the Qatar Peninsula on the southwest coast of the Persian Gulf, bordering Saudi Arabia to the south, with an area of about 11,521 square kilometers and a population of 2.88 million, of which Qatar citizens account for about 15%, and foreigners are mainly from India , Pakistan and Southeast Asian countries. Arabic is the official language and English is the common language.
