Microsoft has its own Linux distribution, CBL-Mariner, which released version 1.0 last year and version 2.0 this week, with the source code posted on Github. CBL-Mariner is not desktop Linux but server-side Linux, which is used within Microsoft for cloud infrastructure and edge computing products and services. It provides a common set of packages required for cloud and edge services, and can easily introduce additional packages as needed. It is a lightweight distribution that can be used as a container or container host.
