British regulators, which are investigating Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, have asked for background material from Microsoft. In the submission, the software giant revealed that one of the motivations for acquiring Activision Blizzard was to promote the mobile game business . Microsoft plans to launch an Xbox mobile game store to challenge Apple and Google. To get Google Play Store and App Store users to move to the Xbox Mobile Platform, Microsoft needs to deliver engaging content, and Activision Blizzard can help it do that. Activision Blizzard includes King, the developer of the well-known mobile game “Candy Crush Saga”, and the “Call of Duty” series also has a mobile game version.
