Titanium Media App reported on July 21 that as the economy continues to weaken, Microsoft will eliminate many vacancies, including positions in its Azure cloud business and security software divisions. Microsoft said the hiring freeze would continue for the foreseeable future, but declined to comment further on the affected divisions and businesses. The company said it will respect open job postings and will make some exceptions for key positions. It's a further expansion of a hiring slowdown disclosed in May, when most of the businesses hit were its Windows, Office and Teams divisions. Earlier this month, Microsoft laid off less than 1% of its 180,000-employee workforce, affecting sectors including consulting and customer solutions, but the company previously said it planned to keep the workforce up by the end of the fiscal year.
