Publishers and content providers often remove content due to the expiration of the agreement. What should the publishers who previously purchased related products deal with? In Valve’s PC game platform Steam, the removed games will still remain in the player’s game library, you can download or continue the game, and the store page corresponding to the game will disappear. Amazon plans to end its Kindle Chinese e-book store after two years, when Chinese customers will no longer be able to download purchased e-books. The practice is controversial, but at least the e-commerce giant notified customers two years in advance, so customers had enough time to download the e-books they had purchased. Sony’s PlayStation Store, on the other hand, took a more controversial approach : it notified customers in Austria and Germany to remove Studio Canal-released movies (including Apocalypse Now, Django, famous films such as John Wick, La La Land, Saw and The Hunger Games). Instead of renting, customers bought these movies. It only left customers less than two months.
