NASA’s Orion spacecraft plunged through the atmosphere and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean at 9:40 am PST on Sunday, wrapping up its Artemis I test mission orbiting the moon. NASA launched the Orion lunar spacecraft on November 16, and the spacecraft arrived at the moon on November 22, performing a three-week flight around the moon. The Orion spacecraft on this mission is primarily a test system in preparation for the crewed Artemis II mission. Over the course of its mission, Orion completed two lunar flybys, the closest being 80 miles from the lunar surface. Although the launch time was bumpy due to different problems, NASA said that the entire mission has been very smooth since then.
