Because the licensing agreement between NetEase and Blizzard will expire on January 23, 2023, Blizzard’s games such as “World of Warcraft”, “Hearthstone”, “Warcraft III: Remastered Edition”, “Watching Pioneer”, “StarCraft”, “Diablo III” and “Heroes of the Storm” will suspend operations in China. Before the agreement expired, NetEase began disbanding its Blizzard game operation team, and its Shanghai-based subsidiary Shanghai Netzhiyi Network Technology laid off or readjusted most of the team members. The team has fewer than a hundred people. After NetEase and Blizzard announced the termination of the agreement in November last year, most of the members have left, and a few technical staff have been transferred to other teams. Only about 10 people remained to deal with follow-up matters. The team behind the mobile game Diablo: Immortal will not be affected.
