The last GPS Logger V990 ( https://dorole.com/1878/ ) was purchased in 2018. It has been used for 5 years, and its stability is still very reliable without any major problems. I recently decided to do an upgrade and replace it with the latest P-1 Mark II, mainly for the following considerations:

1: The miniUSB charging interface is too old, so you need to bring a cable, and I have been embarrassed to forget it when I go out a few times.

2: The SD card that only supports 4GB and the FAT-16 partition are also antiques, and formatting is troublesome.

3: For single-constellation reception, the positioning accuracy is still poor, especially when it is stationary for a long time, the trajectory that drifts around is enough to be slowly deleted.

In the past few years, Explorer has also successively released higher-end models P-1 and P-10 Pro , both of which have also increased support for China’s Beidou positioning. Positioning, push the positioning accuracy to the peak. However, considering the price and actual usage scenarios, I finally chose the P-1 model, which has not yet been used outside. After a simple trial on the top of the building, the positioning accuracy is indeed much better than before. It can be clearly seen at corners and diagonally.

Just a few first impressions:

1: Starting from the P series, it supports three defenses, the battery capacity has increased, and the volume has also increased significantly. Compared with the V series, it is too slender.

2: The back shell is changed from the metal shell of the V series to a plastic shell, which is a little cheap. The seams and corners of the plastic shell are still the same “rough” design as before, which seems a bit random.

3: The brightness of several indicator lights on the front of the fuselage has also been improved, and it is a bit too bright when the car is put in front of the car. The prompt sound has been reduced, the beep sound when the card is inserted and removed, and the beep sound after the positioning is successful.

4: The widely criticized miniUSB has been replaced by microUSB. It will be 2023. Can’t Type-C be implemented in one step?

5: The SD card supports FAT32, up to 32GB. Although the volume of the CSV recorded by itself is not large, only about a few MB in a day, the kml I am used to converting is also stored on the SD card, and the storage capacity is not small for many years. By the way, the P series supports creating folders by year and month by default. This is quite practical, otherwise the root directory will be full.

6: Like most rugged products, a rubber cover covers the SD card slot and charging port. Every time you take the card, you have to break it off. The bending life of this cover is a bit worrying.

As a niche product, it can be continuously iterated and upgraded, and can achieve the ultimate performance, so I still have to give it a thumbs up.? .
