Friends who often come to my blog may know that I have been exploring dressing and simplifying clothes. No, it took a while to implement the all white outfit , and the number of clothes dropped sharply. I think it’s time to tidy up the wardrobe. So I took the before picture last fall, and then I sorted it out drastically.

First of all, I thought about and determined the placement of the clothes——

  • Hang up all the jackets, fold the trousers and put them in drawers (we already have them at home, so we don’t need to buy them separately)
  • Spring, summer and autumn clothes are hung in the bedroom closet, and winter coats are hung in the storage room next to the entrance
  • The pajamas, underwear, pantyhose are partitioned into the cabinet in the bathroom
  • Other clothes or clothes to be sorted are temporarily stored in the storage box in the storage room

Once the rules are established, the subsequent implementation will be much smoother. After several comparisons, I abandoned the German MAWA hanger I bought before and bought a new hanger from MUJI. Ordinary hangers hang spring, summer and autumn casual clothes, formal shirts and small coats use shirt hangers, and heavy winter coats use coat hangers. Originally, I wanted to change my wardrobe twice a year according to the season, but as I was implementing minimalism, I found that there were not many clothes, so it was easy. On the other hand, the storage of trousers really entangled me for a long time. To hang or to fold flat, that is the question. In the end, the truth came out in practice. I think it is more convenient to lay it flat, and the “tops and bottoms” in the closet are reasonably partitioned and do not interfere with each other.

In the year after the clothes storage rules were updated, I upgraded the arrangement again, from “half summer clothes and half spring and autumn clothes” to “half me and half brother Dou”. Although the frequency of pulling the wardrobe door has increased, the division is more reasonable and the induction is easier, which reduces the cost of memory and saves time for entanglement. In fact, I wanted to remove the sliding door, but I failed after trying. I am going to ask Brother Dou to help me figure it out when I have time. If the sliding door can be removed, I plan to buy IKEA’s folding curtains as a partition. The up and down curtains can just block the bedding stored above the wardrobe, and fully expose the clothes hanging below. In this way, it is not only more convenient to access clothes, but also visually cleaner and fresher.

Speaking of bedding storage, this is another duty of the bedroom wardrobe. There is basically no change in this area, and the MUJI storage bag is used to store seasonal quilts, which is convenient and hygienic. Sheets, blankets, pillowcases, etc. are placed at the bottom of the drawer-style storage. First, because it is really heavy, the storage box is not easy to shift when the bottom drawer is pulled; second, compared with trousers, the frequency of taking bedding is very low. Change it three or four times a year.

The place where the drawer storage was located was originally a cardboard box that I hadn’t had time to organize when I moved, and there were some sundries and various documents inside. I dragged all the cartons out and put them behind the sloped bunk in the bedroom to make room. These cardboard boxes stayed in the bedroom for a long time, until I decided to put Popo’s small bookshelf in it a while ago, and then moved them to the living room again. The living room was “dirty and messy” for a while, and I thought about what I should do, so I started to sort out the files . It is still the same as classifying first, then formulating storage rules, and then determining the storage location, so some of the personal documents that are not convenient to store in the living room are arranged by me in the wardrobe of the master bedroom. It happened that there was still some space on the side of the drawer storage. After measuring and searching, I was lucky to find a storage box that was just the right size. Mine, Brother Dou’s, and our common, simple classification is enough. This part of the documents is basically not searched but needs to be kept, including but not limited to relevant documents of various banks, various certificates, etc.

Now the master bedroom closet looks neat and comfortable, and maximizes its function, I am very satisfied. In the future use, I will continue to optimize according to the situation, so as to achieve the ideal state of both beauty and practicality.
