Jessica Hyrule is an English painter, born in London. She often paints family scenes, local villagers, family occasions and parties. Windows and doorways are another common theme in her work. Her poor health, due to being hit by a carriage in 1900, greatly reduced her painting output in her later years when she lived in Bournemouth with her father, who was also a painter. In her final years, she focused primarily on depicting floral works, including this one we present today.
Jessica became the most prolific artist of Hyrule’s descendants, although her sister Edith also gained some recognition. Between 1879 and 1915 she exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, London, and at the Society of British Artists, the Society of Oil Painters and the Royal Manchester Academy.
