The Pentagon has blacklisted 13 Chinese companies including Qihoo 360, Shenzhen DJI, Beijing Zhichuangyu and Zhongke Shuguang. Shenzhen-based DJI is the largest consumer drone maker, accounting for more than half of commercial drones, and the Pentagon’s blacklist, which represents the companies’ ties to the military, clears the way for the Biden administration to impose follow-up sanctions. DJI spokesman Adam Lisberg said there was no reason to blacklist the company, which is the only manufacturer opposed to the military use of its drone products, and that DJI has never designed or built military-grade equipment.
